SAA Tournament: Panthers Shutout Sewanee, Advance to Quarterfinals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
 – The Birmingham-Southern softball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2018 Southern Athletic Association tournament Thursday with its 4-0 win over Sewanee.  BSC (27-13) will face Hendrix tomorrow at noon.

 

Jessica Perley (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia HS) and Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) combined on the mound to blank the Tigers.  Perley picked up her fifth win of the season after allowing just two hits in five innings.  Crumpton struck out a game-high three batters in her two innings of work.

 

Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and an RBI.  Kolyn Kyser (Springville, Ala./Springville HS) also had two hits on the day and an RBI.

 

BSC is 2-2 all-time against Hendrix in the tournament.  The Panthers took their last meeting 8-1 in the first round of 2017.
