BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern softball team extended its win streak to 10 with an 8-5 win over No. 13 Berry College Sunday at BSC Softball Park. The win completed the Panthers sweep of the reigning conference champion. BSC is now 23-5 on the year and 7-2 against Southern Athletic Association opponents.
Bailey Murphy (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) paced the Panthers offense. She went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Her home run in the bottom of the sixth inning helped put the game out of reach for the Vikings.
Kendell Hamm (Adamsville, Ala./Sumitron Christian HS) went 2-for-2 with two runs. And Savannah Lee (Lascassas, Tenn./Oakland HS) also earned two hits on the day. Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) earned the complete game win. She struck out eight and gave up just one walk in a full seven innings of work.
BSC remains at home next. They take on SAA rival Hendrix College April 6-7 with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch both days is set for noon.
