CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – After topping Rhodes College 6-1 in the semifinals of the Southern Athletic Association tournament, No. 8 Birmingham-Southern softball is headed to its first final since 2016 and fourth all-time in the league.
BSC (33-5) will face Rhodes in the championship at noon tomorrow after the Lynx defeated Millsaps College 5-4 in the elimination semifinal Saturday night.
Jessica Perley (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia HS) earned the win in the circle. She threw five innings, struck out five and gave up just one run to improve to 10-3 on the year. Haley Crumpton (Alabaster, Ala./Thompson HS) picked up her fifth save of the season by allowing just one hit in the final two innings.
Offensively, the Panthers combined for six hits, including two home runs.
BSC is 3-2 all-time in SAA championship games and are 5-1 against Rhodes in the post season.
