Steve Meyer begins his third season as pitching coach at Birmingham-Southern. In his first year, Panther pitchers went 25-9 for the 2011 season and led the SCAC in fewest hits, runs, earned runs and walks allowed. Last season Panther pitchers won 36 games and were tied for first place in the SCAC in ERA (1.67). They also led the conference in wins, shutouts and strikeouts.
Meyer came to the Hilltop after two seasons as the pitching coach at Hewitt-Trussville High School, where he helped the Huskies to area championships in 2009 and 2010. He was also a private pitching instructor in Birmingham. He previously coached both high school and travel softball in South Florida.
Meyer is a retired Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He is married and has three married children and a grandson. His younger daughter Susanna was an All-Conference pitcher at Samford University. He and his wife are members of Cahaba Park Presbyterian Church.
