Steve Meyer begins his fourth season as pitching coach at Birmingham-Southern. In his first three years, Panther pitchers amassed an 84-33 record for a .717 winning percentage, and have consistently been among conference leaders in wins, strikeouts and fewest hits and earned runs allowed.
Meyer came to the Hilltop after two seasons as the pitching coach at Hewitt-Trussville High School, where he helped the Huskies to area championships in 2009 and 2010. He was also a private pitching instructor in Birmingham. He previously coached both high school and travel softball in South Florida.
Meyer is a retired Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. He is married and has three married children and a grandson. His younger daughter Susanna was an All-Conference pitcher at Samford University. He and his wife are members of Cahaba Park Presbyterian Church.
