BSC places second in first-ever swimming and diving meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The brand new Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving program participated in its first-ever meet today, hosting the Panther Relays at the Birmingham CrossPlex, where they finished second overall.

The Panthers recorded a team score of 790, behind first-place Sewanee with 858. Berry was third with 736, followed by LaGrange with 296 and Bethel with 210.

BSC won the women's 200-yard free relay, a team consisting of freshmen Peyton Langley, Molly Waddell, Emily Harris, and Kristen Stempak, as well as the women's 300-yard back relay, with freshmen Hailey Morris, Hannah Busk, and Lauren Kinsey making up the team.

The Panthers also won the mixed 400-yard free relay, swam by Stempak and Waddell as well as Saul Hack and Drew Priede. Freshman Lauren Robertson, Harris, and Kinsey also combined to win the women's 1500-yard free relay, and on the men's side, freshmen Wil Cushman, Mark Izbrand, and Priede also won the 1500-yard free relay.

Junior Cody Spradlin won both the mixed one-meter and three-meter diving events, with sophomore Hank Ballard placing second in the one-meter.

BSC is in action again Nov. 9-10 at the LaGrange Invitational in LaGrange, Ga.
