BSC Swimming And Diving Wins Panther Invitational
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams combined to win 12 events and claim first place respectively in the BSC Swimming and Diving Invitational Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Busk would also claim first in the 200 individual medley with a 2:10.38 and then timed a 1:00.36 to win the 100-yard backstroke. Waddell posted a 1:59.47 to win the 200-free and recorded a 1:01 for second in the 200-yard butterfly. Stempak clocked a 54.81 to win the 100-yard freestyle and Lauren Kinsey claimed the 1000-yard freestyle with a 10:47.37.
Duncan Bonney and Wil Cushman won a pair of events to highlight the BSC men. Bonney won the 200-yard individual medley with a 1:57.19 and then posted a 47.43 in the 100-yard freestyle. Cushman won the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:47.4 and the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:55.09.
The BSC Women totaled 183 points to edge second place Darton with 179 points followed by LaGrange College with 81 points and Thomas with 15 points.
BSC won the men's teams standings with 218 points with Darton just three points behind in second. LaGrange with 108 points and Thomas with 32 rounded out the meet field.
Birmingham-Southern men and women return to action in the first ever Southern Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships scheduled for Feb 14-16 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
