CLEVELAND, Miss.—The Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams had another record-setting day at the Delta State Christmas Invitational on Sunday, as six school records fell at the DSU Aquatics Center in Cleveland, Miss.
For the men, sophomore Duncan Bonney continued to break school records (after doing it twice on Saturday), breaking the 100 breast record twice today with a 56.57 in the preliminaries and a 55.89 in the finals. His time in the finals was an NCAA qualifying time and also is the fourth-fastest 100 breast in NCAA Division III so far this season. Bonney also led the 800 freestyle relay team, which posted an NCAA national cut time with 1:41.27. Additionally, sophomore Drew Priede placed seventh in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.14.
In diving action, senior Cody Spradlin broke the three-meter record, placing fourth with a score of 422.00.
The teams are in action for one more day tomorrow before taking a break for the holidays. The Panthers will resume on Jan. 11, 2014, hosting Rhodes and Darton State at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
