BSC women win 2014 SAA Swimming and Diving Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern women's swimming and diving team won the 2014 Southern Athletic Association Championship on Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex Natatorium. BSC also won Female Swimmer of the Year (Hannah Busk), Male Swimmer of the Year (Duncan Bonney), Male Diver of the Year (Cody Spradlin), and Male Newcomer of the Year (Scott Taylor).

The Panther women had a team score of 810 over the three days of competition, followed by Rhodes with 766.50 and Centre with 746.50. The BSC men came in a close second to Centre, who repeats as conference champion. BSC led after the first two days of the championship but the Colonels surged today to win by eight points, 861-853. Sewanee came in third with 688 points.

BSC also won 19 total individual conference titles this weekend; 11 of those were new SAA records, and seven were NCAA B-cut times.
