ALBANY, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams were both victorious this weekend at the Darton State Invitational, defeating both the host Cavaliers and South Georgia State College.
BSC had a combined score of 688, followed by SGSC with 438 and DSC with 398.
On the women's side, junior Molly Waddell won the 100 free and 200 free, and sophomore Marilyn Rowell won the 100 breast and 200 breast. Junior Lauren Kinsey won the 400 IM, junior Lauren Robertson won the 1650 free, and sophomore Jordan Ames won the 200 fly. Ames was also second in the 400 IM, and Kinsey was second in the 200 fly. In the diving category, senior Sara Kate Bracewell won the 1-meter and junior Abby Sims won the 3-meter.
For the men, junior Drew Priede won the 100 back and 1650 free and sophomore Scott Taylor won the 400 IM. The Panthers made up the top four spots of the 1650 free: Priede, followed by freshman Wil Barton, junior Wil Cushman, and sophomore Sam Cook. Freshman Luke Huffstutler also finished second in the 400 IM, and sophomore Ryan Gaines was second in the 1-meter and 3-meter in diving.
BSC is next in action at the Delta State Invitational, Dec. 12-15 in Cleveland, Miss.
