Swimming and Diving competes at Emory

ATLANTA, Ga.—The Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams competed against Emory University on Saturday in Atlanta.

BSC, who is ranked 14th in the nation in CollegeSwimming.com's power rankings, fell to top-ranked Emory, 139-111 on the men's side. The Emory women are also ranked first by CollegeSwimming.com, and defeated No. 18 BSC 155-111.

The men had six top finishes in the meet, including the 800-yard freestyle relay team of seniors Drew Priede and Wil Cushman and sophomores Wil Barton and Luke Huffstutler. Priede also won the 500-yard freestyle, Cushman won the 100-yard freestyle, and Barton won the 200-yard backstroke. Other winners on the men's side were sophomore Caleb Riggs (200-yard breaststroke) and freshman Justin Staab (200-yard butterfly).

For the women, senior Molly Waddell won the 100-yard freestyle, sophomore Emma Gladstone won the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Katie Kassis won the 200-yard butterfly, sophomore Katie Miller won the 200-yard breaststroke, and freshman Heather Heacock won the 200-yard backstroke.

The Panthers return home Nov. 14 to host Rhodes and Berry at the Birmingham CrossPlex at 1 p.m.
