Four Panthers qualify for NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—After another successful conference championship season, the Birmingham-Southern men's swimming and diving team has qualified four swimmers for the 2016 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship.

The championships will be held March 16-19 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C., with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference serving as host. A total of 527 participants (479 swimmers and 48 divers) will compete in the championships.

Senior Drew Priede, senior Wil Cushman, sophomore Wil Barton, and freshman Justin Staab all qualified in the 800-yard freestyle relay, and will also compete in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay as well as the 400-yard medley relay.

In addition, Priede ranked fourth in the nation in the 500-yard freestyle, and will also compete in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly.

Cushman and Staab will compete in the mile, and Staab will also swim the 200-yard butterfly.

All sessions of the championships will be video streamed by the NCAA.

The Sunday after the completion of the championships, BSC will also compete in long-course Olympic time trials.
