SEWANEE, Tenn. – Both the men's and women's Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving teams finished second at the Sewanee Invite out of eight programs competing. The women were just 39 points behind the winner.
The Panthers had a host of top three finishes in both meets, taking first in four events.
On the men's side Noah Young (Clinton, Miss./Clinton HS), Caleb Riggs (Enterprise, Ala./Peninsula HS), Nico Medina (Davie, Fla./American Heritage HS), and Luke Huffstutler (Odenville, Ala./Heritage Christian Academy) won the 100 medley relay. Riggs also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:13, two seconds ahead of the runner-up. Justin Staab (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook HS) took the 200 butterfly, also finishing two seconds ahead of second place at 2:02
For the women, Chelsea Chamblee (Boaz, Ala./Boaz HS) won the 50 free in a time of 27.48.
The Panthers return to action November 18 at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. They will compete in the House of Champions through November 20.
