Nine Qualify for Finals at House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –  Competing against NCAA Division I programs at the 2016 House of Champions, Birmingham-Southern men's and women's swimming and diving saw nine qualify for finals in day one.


Becca Erwin (Duluth, Ga./Duluth HS) broke the program's 50-free record in the prelims.  She, along with Chelsea Chamblee (Boaz, Ala./Boaz HS) qualified for the "B" final. 


On the men's side, Nico Medina (Davie, Fla./American Heritage HS) and Justin Staab (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook HS) qualified for the "B" final of the 500 free after posting times of 4:39 and 4:43, respectively.  And Noah Young (Clinton, Miss./Clinton HS) qualified for the 200 IM "B" final with a time of 1:53.


"C" final qualifiers included Brady Coleman (Denham Springs, La./Denham Springs HS), Caleb Riggs (Enterprise, Ala./Peninsula HS), and Jackson Algiers (Daphne, Ala./McGill-Toolen Catholic HS) in the 200 IM, as well as, Wil Barton (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) in the 500 free.


Competition continues tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 19.  The meet will wrap up this Sunday.
