BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern women's swimming and diving finished the 2016-17 season with a 3.50 team GPA to earn the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team Award. The Panthers tied for 51st out of 173 NCAA Division III women's programs recognized.
Over 700 teams from junior colleges, to the NAIA, and NCAA acquired a GPA of at least a 3.0, according to the CSCAA. This marks the first time in the 95-year history of the organization that such a number received recognition.
Four other Southern Athletic Association women's programs earned the award. The Panthers outpaced all but Berry who earned a 3.52 team GPA.
