ATLANTA – Birmingham-Southern student-athlete James Hughes (Huntsville, Ala./Grissom HS) was named the Southern Athletic Association Men's Diver of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The freshman Hughes set two program records during BSC's home-opening meet against nationally-ranked Emory on Saturday, Oct. 13.
Hughes set the new program record in the 1-meter, six dives event with a mark of 296.25. He then followed it up with a new BSC record in the 3-meter event with a score of 293.85.
Hughes and his Panther teammates return to the Birmingham Crossplex for their next meet against SCAD and Loyola of New Orleans on homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m.
