ATLANTA – Three Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving student-athletes earned athlete of the week honors from the Southern Athletic Association on Tuesday.
Freshman Anna Jordan Luth (Pensacola, Fla./Booker T. Washington HS) and junior Eleni Heller (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) swept the women's honors, while freshman James Hughes (Huntsville, Ala./Grissom HS) was named the men's diver of the week.
Luth, who garnered swimmer of the week honors, won three individual events at the Berry College Invite over the weekend. She placed first in the 200-yard IM, 400-yard IM and the 200-yard breaststroke, while also participating in the first-place 400-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relay teams for the Panthers.
Heller took first in one event, the one-meter dive, with a score of 249.07.
Hughes won the one-meter diver event on the men's side with a score of 421.42, setting a new pool record.
Birmingham-Southern will be back in the pool on Saturday, Jan. 19 when they host Berry College at the Birmingham Crossplex.
