ATLANTA – Two Birmingham-Southern swimming and diving student-athletes were named the Southern Athletic Association Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Senior Hannah Sisler (Hendersonville, Tenn./Merrol Hyde Magnet School) earned the SAA Women's Diver of the Week award, while junior Nico Medina (Hollywood, Fla./American Heritage HS) was named the SAA Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Sisler competed in her first ever diving competition during the meet against Berry College on Saturday, Jan. 20. She participated in both one-meter diving events, tallying scores of 90.68 and 107.7.
Medina won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.5 and came in second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 1:57.84. He also participated in multiple relay events.
The SAA Athlete of the Week honor was the first of Sisler's career and the first weekly honor for Medina this season.
Birmingham-Southern will be back in the pool on Friday, Jan. 25 when the Panthers host Sewanee at the Birmingham Crossplex. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
