Results of 2011 Hilltop Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Results from the 2011 Hilltop Track & Field Classic are now available.

The BSC men finished first overall, while the women finished second. The Panthers had several athletes place first in their events. On the women's side, they were:

Fr. Tiarra Goode, 200m dash (24.99); 100m hurdles (14.70)
So. Jessica Thornton, 800m (2:23.34)
Sr. Mary Elaine Williamson, 1500m (5:07.95)
Jr. Sarah Sharman, high jump (1.52m)
So. Shelby Moore, javelin (35.03m)

The BSC women also won the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:11.57.

Goode's 100m hurdle time was a new personal record for her, and her 200m mark was an NCAA provisional qualifying time. She is now a provisional qualifier in the 100m, 100m hurdles, and 200m.

On the men's side, the top finishers were:

Sr. L.D. Woods, 100m dash (11.08); 200m dash (22.36)
So. Robert Willett, 400m dash (49.59); 800m (2:01.62)
So. Trent Blumenthal, 1500m (4:08.21)
Sr. Will Gurley, 5K (17:23.38)
Fr. Robb Johnson, 400m hurdles (56.36)
Fr. Daniel Nally, 3K steeplechase (10:48.10)
Fr. Hank Ballard, pole vault (4.40m); javelin (49.95m)
Jr. Mitch Swanson, long jump (6.85m)
Jr. Antonio Castanon, discus (37.04m)

And the BSC men also won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:24.19.

"I could not be more proud of the way our men and women performed today," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "Everyone really stepped up and competed in a big way. During this period in the season, this is when we want to be sharp, and the team was there today!"
