Ten first-place finishes for Track & Field at Rhodes College Open

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern track and field teams had 10 individuals finish first in their event, Saturday at the Rhodes College Open in Memphis, Tenn.

On the women's side, freshman Tiarra Goode won the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash, while sophomore Shelby Moore won the javelin, sophomore Jessica Thornton won the 800-meters, and freshman Elizabeth Bromirski won the high jump.

For the men, junior Mitch Swanson won the 400-meter dash, sophomore Robert Willett won the 800 meters, freshman Hank Ballard won the pole vault, and freshman Trent Blumenthal won the 1,500-meters. The BSC men's team also won the 4x400-meter relay.

"We had a solid day of performances from our entire team and it was a great final meet of our regular season competition," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "Our team stepped up against the SCAC teams that were competing at the meet, and I feel very excited about our growth!"

The Panthers are back in action in two weeks, competing at the South Alabama Invitational, April 30, in Mobile.
