SEWANEE, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern indoor track and field teams turned in five first-place finishes at the Tiger Indoor Invitational, hosted by Sewanee, this weekend.
On the men's side, junior Robert Willett finished first in the mile run with a time of 4:29.82 as well as the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.32. The men's 4x400-meter relay team (consisting of Christian Willis, Colin Perry, Willett, and Andrew Archer) also placed first.
Other impressive finishes included:
Jessica Thornton, 800-meter run, 2nd place (2:21)
Tiarra Goode, 55-meter dash, 3rd place (7.22) running as the only Division III athlete in the finals
Cierra Hardy, 200-meter dash, 3rd place (27.33)
Hallie Jordan, mile run, 5th place (6:01.43)
4x400-meter relay (Thornton, Ports, Hardy, Goode), 4th place
Hank Ballard, pole vault, 2nd place (3.80m)
Colin Perry, high jump, 2nd place (1.73m)
Josh Patton, triple jump, 5th place (12.47m)
Andrew Archer, 200-meter dash, 6th place (23.37), top finish among Division III athletes
Mitch Swanson, long jump, 6th place (6.08m)
Trent Blumenthal, mile run, 8th place (4:50.15)
"I was very proud of our entire men's and women's teams and the way they competed today," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "That determination and commitment showed in the results and I salute each one of them.
"The team is coming together at a special period in our program and the best is truly yet to come."
The Panthers are back in action next weekend, returning back to the Birmingham CrossPlex to co-host the Vulcan Invitational.
