Track & Field results from Sewanee Indoor Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern indoor track and field teams wrapped up the 2012 indoor season this weekend at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational and turned in several top finishes and impressive times.

On the women's side, sophomore Tiarra Goode won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.40 seconds, and placed fourth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.24. Junior Jessica Thornton finished second in the mile run (5:15.29) and third in the 800-meter run (2:20.89), and freshman Cierra Hardy placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.34.

For the men, junior Robert Willett won the 800-meter run (1.59.19), sophomore Andrew Archer won the 200-meter dash (51.10), and the 4x400-meter relay team placed first with a time of 3:32.32. Hank Ballard also came in second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.40 meters.

"We had some great performances throughout the day and I was very happy with the effort our men and women gave today," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "It was a positive way to finish the 2012 indoor regular season and we are looking forward to getting those individuals that have a shot at nationals ready for March."
