GRINNELL, Iowa—Birmingham-Southern sophomore Tiarra Goode ran the 60-meter indoor hurdles in 8.56 seconds today to become the 2012 NCAA Division III national champion.
Junior Robert Willett placed third in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.77, and junior Jessica Thornton placed fifth in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.47. All three athletes are now NCAA Division III All-Americans.
Goode becomes Birmingham-Southern's first ever national champion at the Division III level, in its first year of full eligibility.
Her time today is a personal record, stadium record, and NCAA record.
