Men place first, women second at Sewanee Mountain Laurel Track & Field Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern men's track & field team won and the women finished second at the Sewanee Mountain Laurel Invitational, Saturday in Sewanee, Tenn.

The Panther men had nine first-place finishes for a total of 252 points, over 100 points better than second-place Bethel. The women had four first-place finishes and recorded 136 points, 61 points behind Bethel.

First-place finishes on the men's side were:

Christian Willis - 400m (50.77)
Robert Willett - 800m (1:56.43)
David Olsen - 3K (10:14.20)
Mitch Swanson - 400m hurdles (56.03)
Christian Clesi - 3K steeplechase (10:43.07)
Hank Ballard - Pole Vault (4.25m) & Javelin (52.82m)
Cody Mann - Long Jump (6.28m)
4x400m relay (3:35.98)

And first-place finishes for the women were:

Tiarra Goode - 200m (25.13)
Shelby Moore - Javelin (38.59m) & High Jump (1.59m)
Elizabeth Bromirski - Long Jump (4.58m)

BSC returns home next weekend to host the 2012 SCAC Championship, Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, in Panther Stadium.
