BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Birmingham-Southern track and field teams opened the 2013 outdoor season this weekend, hosting the 'Southern Invitational in Panther Stadium.
The meet featured hundreds of athletes from schools from all divisions, including several Division I schools.
Highlights on the women's side included senior Shelby Moore finishing second in the javelin (38.46m) and fifth in the high jump (1.55m), junior Elizabeth Bromiriski placing fourth in the high jump (1.55m) and freshman Kelsey Holdbrooks finishing 10th in the 5K (19:46.09).
For the men, senior Hank Ballard was third in the pole vault (4.40m) and the javelin (58.02m), senior Aaron Sherrill was third in the javelin (60.21m), and senior Cody Mann was fifth in the high jump (1.90m) and ninth in the javelin (46.99m). Senior Colin Perry was also 10th in the triple jump (11.98m), freshman Jordan Frazier was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (15.67) and eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.06), and freshman John White was 10th in the 800-meter run (2:04.25).
The Panthers are in action next week at the Samford Invitational, March 15.
