ATLANTA, Ga. -- The SAA has announced the first men's and women's track and field Athletes of the Week. Sewanee's Clay Bond earned Men's Track Athlete of the Week while Kelsey Holdbrooks of Birmingham-Southern claimed Women's Track Athlete of the Week. The Men's Field Athlete of the Week went to Aaron Sherrill, also of BSC.
Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Clay Bond of Sewanee
Bond (pictured running in his Sewanee uniform), a senior, ran a 4:13 in the 1500 at the 'Southern Invitational, finishing in 8th place overall. His time for the 1500 is the 2nd fastest among SAA teams to date.
Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Kelsey Holdbrooks of Birmingham-Southern
Holdbrooks, just a freshman, posted a personal record in the 'Southern Invitational season opener by finishing 10th overall with a time of 19:46.09 in the 5000 meters.
Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Aaron Sherrill of Birmingham-Southern
Sherrill, a senior, launched an amazing throw in the Javelin of 60.21 meters (197'6") to finish 3rd overall in the event at the 'Southern Invitational to win the Field Athlete of the Week honor.
