BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Robert Willett and Hank Ballard claimed top finishes to highlight Birmingham-Southern's day at the Samford Multi Outdoor Track and Field meet this weekend at Samford University.
Willett clocked a 3:57.17 to capture the 1500-meter run while Ballard tallied 60.50 meters to win the men's javelin throw. Ballard also posted a fourth place finish in the pole vault with a height of 4.40 meters.
"Solid meet all around for our team," BSC Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "We had a number of season and personal bests which made for an impressive weekend. This was a perfect way to start our spring break!"
Aaron Sherrill claimed second in the javelin with a distance of 57.64 meters and Colin Perry grabbed sixth in the men's decathlon with a 5724 points.
Cody Mann claimed a top 10 finish in the high jump, finishing eighth with a height of 1.85 meters while Scott Wheat took eighth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:29.15.
The BSC men's 4x400 relay team of James Blackwood, Jordan Frazier, Nathan Sisco and Connor Wright times a 3:39.27 to place fourth.
Shelby Moore claimed third in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 38.16 while Stephanie Stanley was eighth with 24.90 meters.
Elizabeth Bromirski posted top 10 finishes in the long jump and triple jump. Bromirski was seventh in the triple jump at 34-09.75 and ninth in the long jump with a distance of 4.39 meters. Moore claimed sixth in the triple jump at 34-08.50 and 11th in the discus with a distance of 28.64 meters.
Caron Byrd claimed 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.31.
