Track & Field teams finish first at Hilltop Twilight Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Birmingham-Southern track & field teams both finished first in the Hilltop Twilight Classic, hosted by the Panthers Friday evening in Panther Stadium.

It was also Senior Night for the Panthers, with BSC's nine seniors being honored after the conclusion of the meet.

On the women's side there were 10 first-place finishes, including junior Tiarra Goode winning the 100m and 200m dashes and 100m hurdles, and senior Jessica Thornton winning the 800m. Freshman Katie Ann Bass won the 1500m, freshman Kelsey Holdbrooks won the 5K, and the Panthers won the 4x400m relay. Sophomore Elizabeth Bromirski won the high jump and the triple jump, and senior Shelby Moore won the javelin throw.

The men also had 10 top finishes. Junior Cody Mann won the 100m and the long jump, senior Robert Willett won the 1500m, and freshman Jordan Frazier won the 110m hurdles. Junior Colin Perry won the 400m hurdles and the triple jump, freshman Scott Wheat won the 3K steeplechase, and BSC won the 4x400m relay. Junior Hank Ballard won the pole vault, and senior Aaron Sherrill won the javelin throw.

"We had a successful and fun meet," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "All the teams performed well and it was an enjoyable event to be a part of today!"

The Panthers travel to Bowling Green, Ky., next weekend for the Hilltopper Relays, hosted by Western Kentucky University.
