Four Panthers make NCAA Track & Field Championship field

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Four members of the Birmingham-Southern track & field program will be heading to the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship this weekend in LaCrosse, Wis.

Senior Robert Willett, senior Aaron Sherrill, junior Hank Ballard, and junior Tiarra Goode were all chosen to participate in the national championship meet. Willett qualified in the 800-meter run, Ballard and Sherrill in the javelin, and Goode in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 100-meter hurdles.

Willett placed third last year in the 800-meter outdoor championship, earning All-American honors, and was also an All-American in the indoor 800-meters. Goode is a two-time NCAA champion after winning the 2012 outdoor 100-meter hurdles and indoor 60-meter hurdles. It will be the first championship berths for Ballard and Sherrill.

"I am very proud and excited about this group of athletes that we have representing our program," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "They all have done a tremendous job this season and this is a great opportunity for them and our program. Each year we continue to improve and I have believed all along that our best is still yet to come."

The championships run May 23-25 at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wis.
