LA CROSSE, Wis.–With a time of 1:49.95, senior Robert Willett won the NCAA Division III men's outdoor 800-meter national championship on Saturday in La Crosse, Wis.
Willett becomes BSC's third national champion at the Division III level after junior Tiarra Goode won the national titles in 2012 in the 100-meter outdoor hurdles and the 60-meter indoor hurdles. Goode finished second in the 100-meter hurdles today with a time of 14.24 seconds, third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.29 seconds, and eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.11 seconds.
BSC also had two men competing in the men's javelin. Senior Aaron Sherrill placed fourth with a mark of 65.44 meters, and junior Hank Ballard was 18th with a distance of 57.50 meters.
"Four years of hard work finally paid off big time!" Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "I am so proud of Robert and the way that he has dedicated himself to this program since his freshman year. All four of these athletes did a tremendous job and fought hard throughout the entire championship."
