Birmingham-Southern selected to host 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern has been selected to host the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship, it was announced this week.

BSC will host the national championship event at its home site for both indoor track and field and swimming and diving, the Birmingham CrossPlex.

"We are honored to have been selected as the host for the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship," BSC Head Track and Field Coach Kenneth Cox said. "I am humbled by this opportunity to work with the CrossPlex, the city of Birmingham, and the NCAA as we work toward delivering the best championship experience ever for the student-athletes that will be competing here in our amazing city.

"To know that the selection committee had confidence in BSC to deliver a first-class event is a blessing and it's a salute to the leadership of our Athletic Director Joe Dean, our administration, staff and members of our program—both past and present."

The Birmingham CrossPlex is a world-class facility located just two miles from the BSC campus. This week it was named Indoor Track Facility of the Year by the American Sports Builders Association. The 2018 indoor national championship was one of 11 championship events awarded to the CrossPlex.
