CONWAY, Ark.—Seven Panthers won individual Southern Athletic Association medals, with the Birmingham-Southern men finishing third and the women fourth in the team rankings this weekend at the SAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Ark.
Senior Hank Ballard and sophomore John White were champions in two events, with Ballard winning the pole vault with a mark of 4.65 meters as well as the javelin with a throw of 65.15 meters. White won the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.46 seconds as well as the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.24. Sophomore Jordan Frazier also won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.33 seconds, senior Cody Mann won the high jump with a mark of 1.88 meters, and on the women's side, senior Elizabeth Bromirski won the high jump with a mark of 1.62 meters.
BSC also had six second-place finishes and eight third-place finishes over the course of the championship for a total of 21 medals. The Panther men posted a team score of 155 to finish third overall, behind conference champion Rhodes with 204 points and runner-up Centre with 202. On the women's side, BSC was fourth with 88 points, finishing behind Rhodes with 223 points, Centre with 178, and Hendrix with 93.
