DELAWARE, Ohio—Birmingham-Southern track and field standouts Elizabeth Bromirski and Hank Ballard, who graduated last weekend, both competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championship this weekend in Delaware, Ohio. Bromirski finished 13th in the high jump and Ballard placed 16th in the javelin throw.
Bromirski won the 2014 Southern Athletic Association high jump championship and was eighth in the nation with a mark of 1.70 meters (5 feet 7 inches) heading into the championship. She ended up finishing 13th in the field of 21 athletes with a jump of 1.64 meters (5 feet 4.5 inches).
Ballard was fourth in the nation in the javelin throw after winning the 2014 SAA championship with a toss of 65.15 meters (213 feet 9 inches), which was a school and SAA record. He placed 16th this weekend at the NCAA Championship with a throw of 56.39 meters (185 feet) in the field of 20 athletes.
