BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern track and field teams opened the outdoor season at home this weekend, hosting the 'Southern Invitational at Panther Stadium.
The teams posted eight top-five finishes, with sophomore Michael Snow winning the hammer throw with a mark of 42.15 meters. He also placed second in the discus throw with a distance of 41.32 meters.
On the women's side, sophomore Emory Builta was also second in the hammer throw (39.63 meters), and third in the discus throw (35.55 meters), and sophomore Alyssa Amberson finished third in the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters. Freshman Karmin Shute finished fourth in both the 200-meter dash (25.96) and 400-meter run (1:00.56), and sophomore Sage Jordan placed fifth in the 400-meter run (1:00.83).
