BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern track and field teams had 32 top-five finishes and two individual medalists on Friday at the Hilltop Twilight Classic, hosted by BSC in Panther Stadium.
Friday's meet featured nine women's teams and eight men's teams, including Division I program Samford as well as Division II programs UAH, Miles, and Montevallo.
Freshman Sage Jordan was one of the individual top finishers, winning the 400-meter run with a time of 59.88 seconds, and the other winner was the men's 4x100-meter relay team with a time of 42.47 seconds.
Sophomore Michael Snow placed in the top five in three events, finishing second in the shot put (14.43m), third in the hammer throw (40.81m), and fifth in the discus (39.18m). Junior Halle Knowles also had three top-five finishes on the women's side, coming in third in the 400-meter run (1:01.54), fourth in the long jump (4.85m), and fifth in the triple jump (9.69m).
Freshman women's thrower Earen Robinson was fourth in the hammer throw (43.84m) and fifth in the shot put (11.76m), and sophomore Scott Lewis was second in the long jump (6.65m) and third in the 100-meter dash (11.20). Freshman Jaylen Brooks-Carter placed fourth in both the high jump (1.74m) and 110-meter hurdles (16.01), and freshman Emma Moore was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:41.49) and fifth in the 800-meter run (2:45.45).
The Panthers travel south next weekend for the South Alabama Invitational, Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11, in Gulf Shores, Ala.
