BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Competing as the only NCAA Division III program at the meet, the Birmingham-Southern track and field teams had a strong showing Friday and Saturday at the UAB Vulcan Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Highlights for the Panthers included freshman Kameren Morgan placing third in the men's weight throw with a distance of 15.86 meters, and sophomore Earen Robinson finishing fifth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 15.19 meters. Junior Scott Lewis finished eight in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.86 meters, and freshman Garrett Talley was 13th in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.43.
"We had some impressive performances by our men and women's teams that competed today," Head Coach Kenneth Cox said. "It was a competitive meet for our athletes, and they stepped up to the challenge and really showed that we have a lot to build on as the season continues."
The Panthers are in action at the CrossPlex again next Sunday, Jan. 24, competing in the Emory Invitational.
