BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Sophomores Earen Robinson and Jamal Watkins have been named the Southern Athletic Association Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league office announced today.
Robinson, a thrower from Mobile, Ala., was named Women's Field Athlete of the Week. She had a strong showing this past weekend at the Emory Invitational, finishing second in the hammer throw (44.87m), 11th in the discus (34.37m), and 18th in the shot put (10.95m). Robinson now ranks in the top two in each of those events in the SAA standings.
Watkins, a sprinter from Hampton, Ga., was named Men's Track Athlete of the Week. He picked up where he left off from the NCAA Indoor Championship two weeks ago, finishing fourth overall in the 100-meter finals this past weekend at the Emory Invitational with a time of 10.71 seconds. This time ranks him second in the nation among Division III competitors, and is the fastest time in the SAA.
