MONTEVALLO, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern track and field teams had a strong showing this weekend at the Falcon Classic, hosted by Montevallo, Friday and Saturday in Montevallo, Ala.
On the women's side, BSC had two individual winners, with sophomore Karmin Shute winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.66, and sophomore Earen Robinson winning the hammer throw with a distance of 44.94 meters. Shute was also second in the 400-meter run (59.63), and Robinson finished third in the shot put (11.36m) and fifth in the discus (34.81m).
Junior Emory Builta placed second in the hammer throw (37.98m), and junior Harper DeWine was second in the pole vault (3.35m). The women's 4x400-meter relay team also finished second with a time of 4:04.47.
For the men, freshman Kameren Morgan won both the discus (40.70m) and hammer throw (48.13m), and junior Jay Williams was second in the discus (38.73m) and fifth in the hammer (35.58m). Junior Chris Roberts finished second in the 10K (32:29.17), followed by junior Jarrett Mason at fourth (33:27.90).
Freshman Jonathan Kimbrough placed second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.85), followed by sophomore Jaylen Brooks-Carter at third (16.90). Sophomore Jamal Watkins, who recently finished second in the indoor 60-meter dash at the NCAA Championship, placed third in the 100-meter dash (10.95) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (22.18).
BSC is at home this Friday, April 1, hosting the Hilltop Twilight Classic at Krulak Stadium.
