BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College women's track and field team was one of 175 programs honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their academic success. The Panthers received All-Academic Team honors for maintaining at least a 3.10 cumulative grade point average.
"I am beyond proud of this group of women that represent our track and field family," said Head Coach Kenneth Cox. "They have worked so hard in the classroom and within their training on a daily basis to earn this recognition. We have had a number of athletes receive this academic award, but to be awarded as a team is unbelievable. Our entire coaching and support staff play an important role in this honor as well."
The Panthers earned a 3.16 team GPA. They finished second at the 2016 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Championships after winning seven events. For their performances, they earned 15 all-conference nods and Karmin Shute was named SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Year.
