    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s track and field teams combined for 15 South/Southeast All-Region honors, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern athletics department announced the winners of its big awards and recognized the accomplishments of the student-athletes at its 2017 Athletic Awards Dinner Monday night in the Norton Great Hall on BSC’s campus.
  • Cox, Watkins Take Big Awards; 20 Earn All-Conference

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s track and field teams collected 20 all-conference honors as the Southern Athletic Association released the teams Thursday. Junior Watkins and Head Coach Kenneth Cox headlined the group. Watkins earned track athlete of the year honors and Cox was named coach of the year.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following an impressive performance at the Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Birmingham-Southern men’s team moved up 22 positions in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll. The Panthers are now ranked 14th in the country and third in the South/Southeast Region.
  • SAA CHAMPIONS: Men Defend Title, Women Finish Fifth

    MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s outdoor track and field team successfully defended its Southern Athletic Association Title Saturday. The Panthers scored 81 more than Rhodes College with 227.5 points to win their second consecutive SAA championship. The women scored 102.5 points to finish fifth overall.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams are off to a great start that the 2017 Southern Athletic Association Championships Friday. Eight medals went to Panthers on day one, with four winning conference titles.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams are primed for competition at the 2017 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Championships this weekend. The men will be defending their 2016 title, while the women are expected to be contenders after a second place finish last season. The championships run April 21-22 in Mount Berry, Ga. at Valhalla Stadium.

    SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern outdoor track and field teams went 1-2 at the Sewanee Mountain Laurel Invitational Friday. The women took first place, 10.5 points ahead of Emory, while the men finished second overall.

    ATLANTA - The SAA announced the men's track & field Athletes of the Week for events competed last weekend and, following voting by the league head coaches, Ridge Davis of Sewanee captured Field Athlete of the Week while speedster Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) of Birmingham-Southern claimed Track Athlete of the Week.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern outdoor track and field teams hosted their annual Hilltop Classic Saturday, welcoming six top teams from across the country. It was also senior day on the Hilltop and the Panthers performed well in their final home meet of the season.
  • Weather Stops Falcon Invite, Panthers Compete Well

    MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Severe weather in the region halted the Montevallo Falcon Track and Field Classic Saturday, but the Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s track and field teams were already competing tough. The men were in sixth place after 15 events and the women were 11th after 18 events against NCAA Division I-III opponents.

    ATLANTA, Ga. – Both the Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed this weekend at the Emory Invitational. The men finished ninth out of 33 teams, while the women placed 27th out of 35.

    ATLANTA - The SAA rleased the men's track & field Athletes of the Week for events competed outdoors this past weekend and, following voting by the league head coaches, Will Knowlton of Berry won Track Athlete of the Week while Michael Snow (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) of Birmingham-Southern collected Field Athlete of the Week.
  • CHAMPION: Watkins Wins 60 Meter Indoor Title

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sophomore Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) earned his first national title Saturday at the 2017 NCAA Indoor National Championships. Watkins crossed in 6.76 seconds to claim first place, beating the runner-up by 0.06 seconds.
  • Watkins Regional Runner of the Year, Breaks Record in Prelims

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sophomore Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) is having a big week so far. After being voted to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-South/Southeast Region team in two events, the sprinter was named the organizations regional runner of the year. He also set a new facility record in the 60 meter dash preliminaries Friday afternoon at the NCAA Division III National Championships to earn a spot in Saturday’s finals.

Watkins will be making his second trip to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend.
  • Men and Women Win Sewanee Indoor Invite

    SEWANEE, Tenn. – Both Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams finished first at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational Friday afternoon. The men outscored second place finisher Oglethorpe by 76 points, finishing with 167 team points. The women finished 16 points ahead of Emory to earn the win with 148 team points.
  • BSC Goes 2-3 at Sewanee Tiger Indoor Invite

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams finished second and third, respectively, at the Sewanee Tiger Indoor Invitational Saturday. The men were the top NCAA Division III team at the meet, finishing just 28 points behind first place D-II Mississippi College at 112 points. Their team total was 69 points ahead of third place finisher Berry College. The women earned 56.5 points and finished behind Mississippi College and Emory University.

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed at the KMS Invitational Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex, continuing their trials against teams from all three NCAA Divisions. Both teams saw great individual performances.
  • Men Finish Eighth, Women 19th at Emory Invitational

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed tough against over 20 programs from all three NCAA divisions at the Emory CrossPlex Invitational. The men finished eighth overall, second among Division III teams, and the women were 19th overall, third among Division III teams.
  • Panther Profile: Kameren Morgan, Track and Field

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Kameron Morgan (Bowie, Maryland/ St. Albans School for Boys) is a sophomore at Birmingham-Southern College pursuing his track and field career while also pursuing a degree in pre-engineering with an art minor. Morgan attended St. Alban’s School for Boys from fourth to 12th grade. When people hear engineering they automatically think “big plans”, well Morgan is not only thinking “big” in terms of school.
  • BSC Has Big Day at UAB Vulcan Invite

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s indoor track and field team competed tough at the UAB Vulcan Invite Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Despite being one of two NCAA Division III programs to participate in the meet, the Panthers earned five top 15 finishes, including three top three performances.
  • Panthers Open Indoor Season at Home in Icebreaker

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams opened the 2016-17 season at home in the BSC Panther Icebreaker Friday. The Birmingham CrossPlex played host to over 18 teams from all three NCAA Divisions including Georgia Tech, UAB, Mississippi College, and Tulane.
  • 2016 BSC Hall of Fame Class Inducted

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern College Hall of Fame class of 2016 was inducted Friday night. Frank “Buddy” Cairns (deceased), Rachel Malmborg Skweres, Joe Nasco, John Quinn, and Joe Thigpen join the long list of Panthers immortalized in the hall.
