MOBILE, Ala. – Several Panthers earned top three finishes at the University of Mobile Invitational Friday as the Birmingham-Southern men's and women's outdoor track and field teams continue to improve.
Morgan Reynolds (Indian Springs, Ala./The Westminster School at Oak Mountain) won the 5K 19:34 with Marjorie Head (Columbiana, Ala./Shelby County HS) right behind her in second place at a personal best 19:44. Elise Pittman (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) placed second in the 1500-meters, crossing in 5:02.
And the 4x400 relay team of Jessica Allen (Lithonia, Ga./Arabia Mountain HS), Rebecca Bryant (Decatur, Ga./Marist School), Sage Jordan (Huntsville, Ala./Randolph HS), and Lauren Krzstowczyl (Nashville, Tenn./Independence HS) finished second in a time of 4:16. In the field, Harper DeWine (Mountain Brook, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) and Alexus Lindsey (Holly Pond, Ala./Fairview HS) went 2-3 in the pole vault. DeWine finished second after clearing 3.05m.
On the men's side, Foster Johnstone (Jackson, Tenn./Madison Academic Magnet HS) won the 800 and Chris Roberts (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville HS) and Justin Peifer (Montgomery, Ala./Saint James School) went 1-2 in the 5K. The 4x100 relay team of Damian Mitchell (Maplesville, Ala./Maplesville HS), Jalon Hollie (Hoover, Ala./Spain Park HS), Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC), and Isaiah Dozier (Sugar Hill, Ga./Lanier HS) won the event in a time of 42.20. Hollie joined Garrett Talley (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS), Andrew Triplett (Hermitage, Tenn./Father Ryan HS), and Javon Jones (Mobile, Ala./Cottage Hill Christian Academy) on the 4x400 team that placed third. Watkins also placed third in the 100.
In the field, Michael Snow (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) won the shot put while Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) finished third. Morgan went on to win the hammer throw with a personal best distance of 56.92m and Snow finished third in the event with a season best mark of 47.98m. Cedric Campbell (McDonough, Ga./Dutchtown HS) and Ivan Villageois (Montgomery, Ala./Saint James HS) went 2-3 in the high jump to close out the Panthers top finishers on the day.
BSC will head to the Mt. Laurel Invitational in Sewanee, Tenn. next on Friday, April 14.
