NCAA Championships: Watkins Wins National Title

NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) picked up his second NCAA Division III national title Saturday as he won the 100 meter dash in a stadium and personal record time of 10.34.  Birmingham-Southern men's track and field would finish 14th overall as a team at national's.

Sophomore Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) made the most of his first trip to the national championships.  He tossed a personal best 58.04m to place third in the hammer throw.  The mark beat his previous PR by 1.12m.

Watkins also went on to finish eighth in the 200 finals.  Combined with his 60m indoor national title, Watkins becomes the first indoor/outdoor national champion since Tiarra Goode did it in 2012.  He is also the first men's track and field student-athlete to win two national titles.
