BSC Has Strong Showing at Indoor Icebreaker

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field teams opened their indoor season by hosting the BSC Indoor Icebreaker Friday.  They had a strong showing at the Birmingham CrossPlex, with several top 20 finishes competing against teams from each NCAA division and the NAIA.


Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) was the Panthers top finisher.  He placed third overall in the weight throw at 16.06m, less than half a meter behind second place.


Also excelling in the field was Madelyn Nicastro (Huntsville, Ala./Grissom HS) .  She tied for fourth overall after clearing 1.50m in the high jump.  On the track, Karmin Shute (Fayetteville, Ga./The Walker School) set a new personal record in the 60m dash before placing seventh overall in the 200m dash.  She was the top Division III finisher in both races.


The Panthers return to competition in the New Year.  They will compete at the UAB Blazer Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the CrossPlex.
