BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern indoor track and field had several Panthers earn points at the Emory CrossPlex Invitational Sunday competing against teams from all three NCAA Divisions.
Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) took first in the men's weight throw with a personal best toss of 17.55m. His mark was nearly a meter further than the second place finisher and over 2.35m beyond the top NCAA Division I finisher.
On the track, Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC) tied a season-best time of 6.93 to qualify for the 60m dash finals. He went on to finish third overall, behind Division I-II competitors.
For the women, Karmin Shute (Fayetteville, Ga./The Walker School) dominated on the track. She placed fourth in the collegiate group in both the 60m and 200m dashes. Taylor Eady (Cullman, Ala./West Point HS) and Alexus Lindsey (Holly Pond, Ala./Fairview HS) had big days in the field. Eady placed sixth in triple jump with a personal record 10.85m mark. And Lindsey cleared a season-best 2.95m to place sixth in the pole vault.
The Panthers return to the Birmingham CrossPlex on Sunday, Jan. 28 for the KMS Invitational.
