BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – A host of Panthers finished top eight and broke records at the 2019 'Southern Indoor Challenge Monday as the Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field teams continued their indoor campaign.

Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) continued to dominate in the weight throw.  His toss of 19.19m broke his previous meet record, and earned him first place by over 3.5m.  Jordan Jones (Powder Springs, Ga./Hiram HS) broke the program record in the long jump.  The freshman went a personal best 6.91m to earn third place overall.  He also finished fifth in the triple jump with a personal record distance of 13.98m.

On the track, Mike Benning (Chattanooga, Tenn./Baylor School) qualified for the 60m hurdles final with a personal best time of 9.14 seconds.  DJ Albright (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton HS) also earned a spot in the finals with a personal record time after he ran a 7.12 in the semifinals of the 60m dash. And Alvin Finch (Birmingham, Ala./Homewood HS) finished the 3K in a personal record 9:14 to finish eighth overall.

Marjorie Head (Columbiana, Ala./Shelby County HS) broke the BSC record in the 3K when she crossed in 10:46.  Her new personal record shattered a time that had stood since 2010.  Monasia Taylor (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer HS) set a new personal record (8.11) in the 60m dash to earn a spot in the finals.  In the field, Rebecca Bryant (Decatur, Ga./Marist School) set a new PR in the triple jump.  She earned eighth place with a distance of 10.33m.

BSC heads to Tennessee next, where they'll compete in the Sewanee Indoor Invitational on Friday, Feb. 15.
