BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's indoor track and field teams are sitting in the top 25 regionally after the recent United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
The men are now ranked No. 22 in the South/Southeast Region with Panthers ranked individually in 10 events. Senior Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) and freshman Jordan Jones (Powder Springs, Ga./Hiram HS) hold top marks in their respective events. Morgan threw 19.95m in the weight throw at the UAB Vulcan Invitational on January 12 to sit in first place in the region. His mark is the fourth best throw in the country so far and broke the program record. Jones recently went a program record 6.61m in the long jump to earn the No. 1 spot in the region and is third in the triple jump.
The women are now No. 24 with Panthers ranked in 10 different events. Freshman Monasia Taylor (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer HS) has the 12th fastest 60m time in the region. Freshman Kamryn Bendolph (Madison, Ala./Columbia HS) is 16th in the 400m and junior Rebecca Bryant (Decatur, Ga./Marist School) is 17th in the triple jump.
BSC travels to Tennessee this weekend to compete in the Sewanee Indoor Invitational on Friday, Feb. 15.
