BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field teams had a good showing at the Samford Alabama Track Challenge Friday.
Luke Ballard (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) beat out several NCAA Division I throwers to win the javelin throw at a distance of 62.05m. C.J. LeCroy (Isabella, Ala./Isabella HS) placed third in the event at 52.92m. Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) earned second in the hammer throw with his toss of 55.96m. And Jordan Jones (Powder Springs, Ga./Hiram HS) finished third in the triple jump with a personal record distance of 13.93m.
On the track, Garrett Talley (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) and Amir Sims (Orlando, Fla./Union Grove HS) both finished fourth in their respective events. Talley was just 0.56 seconds off of his personal record in the 800m.
Rebecca Bryant (Decatur, Ga./Marist School) broke a six year old program record in the triple jump. She went a personal record 11.00m even to earn fifth overall and leap her way into the record books. Kamryn Bendolph (Madison, Ala./Columbia HS) also set a personal record. She finished the 400m dash in 59.50 seconds.
