BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's basketball teams are on the road this weekend for their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road swing, traveling to Greencastle, Ind., to face DePauw University, Friday, and then Danville, Ky., to take on Centre College, Sunday.
Friday's doubleheader begins at 6 p.m. ET, and Sunday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. ET. In both doubleheaders, the men's team plays first.
On the men's side, BSC stands at 7-4, having most recently Sewanee and Oglethorpe at home last weekend. Sophomore Aaron Parr leads in scoring with 13.2 points per game and has a team-high 2.5 assists per game, and is ranked third in the SCAC in free throw percentage (.880).
Juniors #Roger Williams# and #Nathan West# are also averaging double digit scoring, with 12.7 and 11.2 points per game, respectively, and West is sixth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.400).
Sophomore #Michael Rebarchak# leads on the boards, pulling down 6.2 rebounds a game, and ranks third in the league with 1.9 blocks a game.
The BSC women (8-4) have dropped their last two games, losing in overtime to Sewanee and losing to No. 9 Oglethorpe this past weekend. Freshman #Erin Jackson# leads, averaging 10.5 points per game, and sophomore #Courtney Gibson# is averaging 10.1 points a game. Gibson also leads the SCAC in three-point field goal percentage (.559), and Jackson is tied for second in three-pointers per game (2.5).
Senior #Elyse Clay# is the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 8.0 boards a contest, which ties her for fourth in the conference, and senior #Danielle Harbor# averages a team-high 3.9 assists a game, tying her for fifth in the SCAC.
The DePauw women have won their last six games and are 9-3 on the season, led by Cassie Pruzin with 11.1 points and 5.3 assists a game, and Emily Marshall with 7.6 rebounds a game.
On the men's side, the Tigers are 8-4 on the season. Mike Moore leads with 18.0 points a game, with Tom Callen and Steve Lemasters also averaging double digits with 14.6 and 10.7 points per game, respectively. Callen also leads with 5.8 rebounds a game, and Moore leads with 4.1 assists a game.
The Centre women are 7-5 and led by Lauren Huter averaging 13.0 points and 7.8 rebounds a game, followed by Maggie Prewitt with 10.8 and Chelsea Goodman with 10.1 points a game. Prewitt also leads with 3.3 assists a contest.
The Centre men stand at 8-3 on the season, led by Danny Noll with 14.2 points a game, T.C. Thomason with 12.5 points a game, Kris Bentley with 11.4 points a game, and Ryan Crowdis with 10.1 points a game. Alex Lloyd leads with 7.6 rebounds a contest, and Crowdis also leads with 4.5 assists a game.
