Panthers return to hardwood Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The BSC men’s and women's basketball teams will return to action this Friday as they host the Sewanee Tigers. Tip-off of the doubleheader is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Bill Battle Coliseum.

The Panther men are 5-4 on the season coming off a nail-biting 79-77 loss at Rust College back on December 19th. The Tiger men are 2-7 and trying to recover from a 77-66 loss at Emory before the break.

The Panthers are led by starting point guard Aaron Parr with 15.5 points per game.  Michael Rebarchak is BSC’s leading rebounder with 6.1 per game.  He also leads the team in steals with a total of 11 on the season.

Sewanee’s leading scorer is Bradley Pierson with 18.1 points per game.  Ben Pursell averages 7.6 rebounds for the Tigers.  Casey Berry has also posted some impressive numbers with 21 assists and 23  steals thus far.

On the women's side, the team is 8-2 and has won its last five games, including a 93-76 win over No. 25 Emory this past Tuesday. Freshman Erin Jackson leads the Panthers in scoring with 11.1 points a game, while senior Elyse Clay leads on the boards with 8.2 rebounds a contest. Senior Danielle Harbor also leads with 4.2 assists per game.
