The Panthers begin the second half of their SCAC-East schedule on Friday night as both the men’s and women’s squads host Oglethorpe University starting at 6:00.
The women (9-10, 4-7 SCAC) will face off with the Petrels first and are looking for the season sweep. The ladies defeated OU in Atlanta on New Year’s Day, 69-58. The Petrels are currently 9-11 on the season and 4-11, in a three-way tie with the Panthers and Rhodes for third place, in the East.
The men’s team (16-3, 8-3 SCAC) is looking to avenge a 67-71 loss to Oglethorpe back on January 1 that cost the Panthers their perfect record. The Petrels are currently 11-8 on the season and 6-5 in conference, tied with Centre for third in the East.
The weekend series will conclude on Sunday afternoon as the Panthers host the Sewanee Tigers starting at noon.
Both Tiger squads are currently sitting in last place in the conference standings with the women at 6-13 overall and 2-9 in conference play and the men at 4-15 on the season and just 1-10 in SCAC contests.
The Panthers may not yet be eligible to compete for a conference crown, but they can have major impact on who does come away with the trophy with just five game s remaining in the regular season conference schedule. If you can’t be at the games in person this weekend, be sure to follow all the action on BSC’s live stat feed directly from Bill Battle Coliseum.
